EPU is usually described in terms of: light, medium, strong and extreme thicknesses.

Are these categories subjective or are there definitive measurements/criteria to determine how to categorize the thickness?

I would say subjective.
Light , you should pay attention to the best pickup points.
Medium , should be fairly obvious.
Extreme , the dots will probably be close to or double length.

Note that it doesn't just affect the EPU area. But also the wheat lines, stems and the USA can also be enlarged. Sometimes ON CENT is affected. If just matters what happened when the die was being created. (Thus the nine different classes of doubled dies)

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, other areas are affected and I do take that into consideration. Just not sure how the decision is made to list one as extreme vs. strong-extra [and so forth]. I think Stoneman is probably correct about it being arbitrary.

I have quite a few unattributed LWC DDRs that are so somewhere between medium and strong and I was hoping that there would be a clear-cut way of classifying them so that I can get reasonably-close attribution numbers on them. They are Ps [so no MM], attributors have few markers and stages listed and they are circulated [so markers are mostly gone]. It is a challenge to say the least.
