Hey all! My mum just got some coins from my grandmother. There are others but these 4 stuck out. She picked them many years ago from a man looking for quick money. I just want to know if these look real or fake. They aren't in great condition, having been kept in a sock with other coins for years, but I'm sure could be cleaned up.

I honestly doubt that it could be genuine because a real one would be worth over 2 million dollars.

Surface texture looks like a cast fake to me, to agree with MisterT, no matter the era, this wouldn't be a coin that you sell off for any small amount of fast cash if genuine

As the current owner, it has cost you nothing.
If you like collecting coins, let this coin be the start of the 'black' part of your collection, so that you can learn how to expose counterfeits.
That's cheap education for you.

There are only about 15 of these known and they were all proof strikes
All you have to do is compare a picture of a genuine coin to yours and you can see the difference.

This one is clearly a fake, but make sure you don't clean any of the others to make them look nicer.

The reverse doesn't match either of the two reverses used on the genuine 1804 dollars.
