Found this while coin rolling!

On the reverse, there is a split serif on the R in AMERICA and there is also doubling in the designer's initials.

New DDR or PMD?

Let me hear what ya think!

I do not think it is a DDR. Wait for a few pros to chime in.

No Doubling that I can see, just looks like circulation damage.
It is pretty hard to discover a new DD as it would have to be on the striking die
which means that there could have been up to a million produced. If this was the
case, it would probably have been discovered by now.
I'm not saying it is impossible, just highly unlikely.

Not listings on V.V or Wexler's sites. Just a normal coin:

The devices are the same.

I appreciate the feedback @John1 @JimmyD @coop !!

Especially with the amount of circulated coins that are encountered while coin roll hunting, is it worth even looking under the microscope if its not a key date or is not known to have a RPM or variety?

What do you think?

I always look. Because just because a unknown new variety can happen, I will find it, as I check them all for what has happened on other years around that year. Case in point:
2004 had some DDRs on the EPU area. So I started checking other years to see if this happened before or after this year. Well guess what:

Quote:

2002-D 1¢ WDDR-002 "Best Of" Variety

Description: A nice spread to the west shows on the left side of EPU and the left dots.

Die Markers: Obverse: A die gouge can be found south of the first 2 in the date. Reverse: A die gouge can be found to the left of the lower U in UNITED. A die gouge can be found to the left of the lower L in PLURIBUS. A die gouge can be found above the upper left dot. Die pitting can be found above the end of the left Memorial base. A die gouge can be found in the upper first bay.

So keeping in mind the years, that a doubled die happened, and other years around it when searching, look for them there as well. You never know what you will see on the next coin.
