Not sure how I can tell if the planchet is silver clad... or a nickel planchet or why these weigh so much less. I just purchased this scale so I know it works. Do you guys have any idea?

The quarters should weigh in at 5.7 grams. with a tolerance above and below that weight (I forget what the tolerance is) but your coins fit in perfectly.

@ape, the mint tolerance is both above and below the target weight.

The mint tolerance on a quarter is +-.19g so anything between 5.48g and 5.86g
is acceptable. Yours fall well within this range.
If it was silver it would weigh around 6.25g

All the ones pictured are clad (1965 to present for circulation strikes).

1964 and earlier are 90% silver for Washington quarters.
