ICCS Grading - 1888 Newfoundland 1 Cent

HumblePie Pillar of the Community United States 1217 Posts	Posted 05/17/2021 09:51 am (I hope I'm posting this type of question in the right place) I would like to hear some thoughts on ICCS as a Grading company, as they are totally new to me. Also, the flip holder that they use, how safe are they for long term storage. I find it hard to enjoy the Coin in the flip holders. Very hard to take a decent photo. I debated on taking the Coin out, putting it in an air tite, and sliding it back in the flip. I know that will cancel their opinion on the Grade, as stated on the flip. If opinions are that these flips are completely safe, I will be content on leaving the Coin as-is. Thanks for any advice! Report this Post to the Staff

Nice VF30, in older two letter holder, may even be undergraded by todays more relaxed standards. It will be the only way I can take a decent photo to get current opinions on Grade. Also, I'm guessing the Coin being in the ICCS flip has no real positive value, or taking it out has no real devalue. The Cent is beautiful and looks like a piece of chocolate, I think it would look great in an air tite capsule. Decisions Decisions. Report this Post to the Staff
kanga Pillar of the Community United States 5825 Posts	Posted 05/17/2021 3:20 pm Bear in mind that the Canadian graders have a different standard than the US graders. What looks undergraded to us is standard for them. That's why I rarely give opinions on the grade of non-US coins. Report this Post to the Staff
Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 05/19/2021 03:03 am I believe the outer flip is PVC, but the coin is sealed in a mylar pouch inside the flip. The mylar pouch should protect the coin should the PVC flip begin to degrade. Report this Post to the Staff
