Found this in Dad's Coca-Cola collection.
Also found items compatible with his stamp collection.
Those are posted on our sister board, the stamp forum.

I extracted anything stamp or coin related. This is
the only item I have found so far that is coin 'related'.

Oh, I found the bar laying in the bottom of one of his
Coca-Cola clocks... It's a long story, but he has dozens
of clocks in his collection of CC stuff.

Those CC bars are worth far more than an ounce of silver. If ya didn't know. Nice bar.

Any ideas on value?
Dad had a large CC collection, but potential buyers are
telling us most of it is worthless. We are hoping to get
$5k for everything, but the best offer so far is $3k...
and that is with the buyer acting like he is doing us a
favor by taking all the "worthless" stuff. I know some
of it is common, modern stuff, but that doesn't make it
worthless. I wonder if the $3k offer would still stand
if I removed the huge number of items that they are
referring to as "worthless". Sorry for going on a tangent.

Ideas on value?
This is one item I didn't think had much CC value.
I figured silver price, maybe a buck over...

It is in a clear vinyl(maybe?) slip case.
But it looks like the case is discolored and
might just be discoloring the silver as well.

Back in the late 70s, would they have been careful
about what they put this in, or would they have gone
cheap on me and used a case that is harmful to the
metal? Should I get a newer case that is known to be
silver safe? This case material is very soft and pliable.

Hi Ratio

while I didn't look at all of them to see if any were exactly like yours there are quite a few listed on ebay and in ebay stores .

If it was mine it would live in an airtite for bars .

if the holder contained PVC and the bar is hazed try a good soak in pure acetone ,, if it don't come of, then it is what it is and I would leave it alone at that point and seal it in the airtire .

It isn't hazy on the metal itself.
The haze you see in the scan of the bar is on the case.
The metal though is toning and forming some dark spots.
The toning is very pronounced and dark around the "75"
where the flap tucks in. Might just be because it is
getting more air at that point since the flap is there?

It was done by a bar maker somewhere, so you would think
they would be on top of the case material they used. ?

I think it won't be a priority, but it will get a good
capsule type holder when I get a chance. Thanks for
the idea. I soaked it in acetone and it did nothing.
Looks like the thing was very much 'proof-like' at one
time. Even with some toning and spots, the fields are
like looking into a mirror. Can't tell from the scans
though. I just didn't want it on the scanner bed
without being in the sleeve.

Coca cola can be very collectible. Depending on what else you have. I have not seen that bar.some of those bars have sold for between 30 and 80 dollars each. Depending on the plant it is made for. Other coca cola collectibles can be very desireable as well. Not sure how this area has been doin since the great depression of the 21st century. Jk about the depression. Seriously not sure if collectors are in the buying mood.

I checked ebay current and completed listings in both
public and ebay stores listings. Hundreds of bars, none
anywhere from Orangeburg, SC.

The most common ones go for $20ish it seems.
(Only looking at ones that sold, or actually have bids)
Texas goes for almost $200 by every auction I looked at.
Everything else seems to be anywhere in between depending
on location. I guess I can assume Orangeburg is hard to find.

I have a friend that passed away about 2 years ago. He had five garage's turned into Coca Cola Museums.

I never new all that Coca Cola stuff existed. His wife was offered a lump sum for the entire collection she turned it down and has been trying to sell stuff now at flea markets, ebay ect for over two years now and hardly made a dent in his collection. She said she wishes she would have taken that offer now.
