I just noticed this one on ebay, where I think I'm seeing the overdate.

Granted, the pic is a little fuzzy...but the markers are in the right places:

1843/34-UK-Three-Halfpence?

Compare to Numismat's verified 1843/34:
1843/34-UK-Three-Halfpence?

Since the shipping's too high to my location, I'm going to pass on this one.

Certainly looks to be the over-date! I'm surprised that the English seller didn't catch that. Someone may get lucky... or not, since I'm sure more than one bidder will notice it.

Yeah, I think you're right, this'll be noticed by bidders. Bummer about the shipping costs from the UK... when it's in pounds it's a killer.

It's pretty amazing what details you can resolve with photoshop

Yes, I would've bitten if the shipping weren't so steep, although I'm not sure about surface condition on this coin.
Contrast that to the obviously original surface on Numismat's.

I think that's just the light or angle that makes the surface look whitish. I'm pretty certain that one is original as well. =)

Hmmm....you could be right, and I see there's a GBP 2- shipping option.
Perhaps I'll give this a snipe--does this variety have much of a premium?

Yea it was definitely spotted. On average, this variety commands a 3-4x premium over the normal one, depending on the grade.

Normal variety - (F/VF/XF/UNC) $3.50, $7, $25, $50
Overdate - $8, $20, $90, $200

Combined mintage is 475k.

My books list it in USD, but Spink prices may be higher.
