I have a Kennedy coin with a burnishing ball stuck under the cladding.

My mom worked at a bank, and a teller excitedly showed an error coin around the bank as such an oddity. I remember my mom talking about this when it happened. She 'bought' the coin from the bank at face value, and kept it for many years. It was in her effects after she died.

I had heard of one other that sold, at auction, for over $100,000.

How rare is a stamped coin with that error? I'd imagine that it would damage the press, causing issues, but I'm no expert on coinage and coin making, aside from what I have seen on tv.

I'll post pictures soon. I was surprised to see this coin in the massive box of American, and foreign currency. I would have thought she gave it away, or it was stolen by my rotten sibs. (Everything else of value was. Blood isn't worth much sometimes, eh)

There was a bunch of script too, and various other oddities.

TIA. Hoping it's worth *something*...

I'm not sure how exactly that would happen, but I'll wait for pics.

@ball, first welcome to CCF. Second, I'm very much looking forward to seeing images of this coin.
