The Mint Mark on this 1969 Lincoln Cent has a odd looking mint mark with an enlarged tip of the D. I could not find this on Vista Variety's or anywhere else could someone please weigh in on what this might be. Thank you.

Possibly a circulation hit pushed the metal up?

can also spend some time looking here and making comparisons. might need to give it an acetone bath though to get some of the crud out of there. Honestly though it's position on the coin really doesn't fit any of them to my untrained eyes though.

Agree with the above. You can see where the tip of the D has taken a hit that flattened it slightly. If it was a variety, there would 100's of thousands of them struck and been noted by now.

Using a microscope to start out searching coins normally means people find tons of anomalous happenings/things on coins which are not collectable b/c they are not legit errors from the mint (which are what is collectable). Reading about what is a legit error at places like error-ref.com, varietyvista.com, etc. will hep maximize your time in learning of what to look for vs. looking randomly for something that "just doesn't look right."
