NZ 1967 Coin Sets - Proof Or Not To Proof

This is advertised on ebay as Proof and Proof-Like even though there seems no mention of the word Proof on the case. Numista lists a mintage of only 10 yet the number and pricing on ebay suggests way more than 10. Is it a proof set and the mintage is wrong? Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 05/19/2021 01:53 am David, its a standard Polished 1969 set (The better grade blue label one). In my thread it states you could buy plush cases for these things for an additional few dollars. I think about 25k were issued. It is NOT rare. The coins are only polished and proof like (There is no cameoing) - 1969 was also a very common year as it was the Captain Cook Bicentenary. The plush cases were used only for 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 sets - they were optional and not every set has them. They were also notoriously snappy and snap the lid closed made the coins jump around. The other disadvantage is that the coins had to be taken out of the packet to be placed in. $22.50 Australia is a bit high, as these would go for $10 - $18 here in NZ. Report this Post to the Staff

I did look at the thread but when you mentioned the thread did not cover Proof sets I didn't dabble further so my error. I do have the blue label set so not fussed about a natty box.
