Rodeo horses often have a hard life, but this one reminded me of the Buffalo nickel with the amputated leg. The leg is still on this horse though. The color showing through Washington's profile is what caught my eye. What think you?

As always, your comments are much appreciated.

The spot in front of George is a place where grease was on the die when the coin was struck, No added value. The rest of what you see is damage from circulation. The horse's leg took a circulation hit. The "dotted" marks are where another coins reeded edge impacted your coins surface.

A suggestion to help you in searching coins. It appears you are learning about coins "backwards."

You appear to be searching coins for anomalies in hopes of finding a collectable error. The problem is that all circulated coins can have such anomalies (and others) that are not mint produced and certainly not collectable.

So the way to appraoch this would be to know what actual mint erros and varieties are, and to recognize them when you see them.

How? Spend some good time reviewing actual errors at places like error-ref.com, varietyvista.com, Coneca, etc. Then start looking for those exact errors instead of randomly searching the faces of all coins.

When your eye gets used to seeing what actual errors look like, you will develop a knowledge for damage vs. what you really desire to find.

Agree. In addition, read the coin. Wyoming not Montana. I understand how you feel. Getting excited about something that isn't. Hang in there! It gets better as you learn more!

By the way, Welcome!

Thank you so much. I guess that sometimes the excitement of having coins in my hand overcomes the need to learn before blabbering away! I take your suggestions to heart and will do as you both suggested. Thanks again.
