Found this while looking threw my coins the markings on the coin is actually on the planchet. Does it happen alot or is it rare.

What does the edge look like? Almost looks like silver paint.

It's not paint I thought it was just from being in circulation but it's actually the metal they use to stamp the coin on it's was not a clean piece of metal.

With the new pics I'll say ED of some kind. Coin could have been resting on/in something that caused this, idk. Obverse spots look like corrosion. Looks like pitting above IGWT.
