Apparently my reaching 100,000 posts is some sort of celebratory moment in time. I know there is a contest surrounding the event, so I figure I might has well lean into it. I am going to pepper this countdown with photos of my beloved Ikes. I will add another one every few posts as I approach the milestone. Along the way I will also make some comments in my nearly 5000 day existence as part of the Coin Community Family forums. This is the topic where I will make the milestone post. I have a speech prepared, but will probably end up winging it. So with this 99,800th post, let the countdown begin!

It all started on 20 December 2007... Quote: Been lurking around this forum for a while now and I figured it was about time I went legit.
I have been collecting coins almost thirty years. It began when my dad gave me an couple of Ikes he brought back from Vegas. It took hold when my mom would buy me books and supplies to feed my interest.
I mostly collect modern US. The largest percentage of my collection came from circulation, but I have also bought many (at shows and shops) to fill the holes in my albums.
I have some albums with various world coins, mostly from friends that traveled abroad. (Easy vacation gift idea: give your left-over change to the coin collector!) I also have a lot of Canadian coins stored up, many of them came from my previously living in border states. This Ike is one I captured with my wife's old Canon Rebel. It was the first Ike I photographed and uploaded here.

Bobby sent me an email on 27 August 2009 inviting me to become part of the CCF staff. The following day my tenure as your most beloved/hated/tolerated moderator began. Being on the staff finally paid off seven years later! On 30 August 2016 Bobby offered me two slabbed Ikes (one each PCGS and NGC) to start me on a new journey, to complete a graded set of Ikes. I would settle on building a PCGS set, which I will showcase later, so below is the NGC Ike from Bobby.

That's a totally amassing story but can you slow down a little with your posts; I have you reaching 100K around August .

Maybe I should send you an error Ike... and start you down a new rabbit hole...

jbuck, Just wondering what/why made Bobby ask you to be a MOD so early on? You said your family helped you along in the hobby, have you helped any other family members get into the hobby? John1

Quote: You said your family helped you along in the hobby, have you helped any other family members get into the hobby? I have tried to get my son involved. I show him things and he seems happy that I find it interesting, but he has never really taken to it for his own personal joy. He does have a rather nice elongated cent collection though. That is something at least.

I wouldn't have started it had it not been for your obvious love of the series. Thank you!
