Found this penny in a jar while going through them, probably nothing but I've seen similar looking ones selling for a lot on ebay. It's a 1960 and looks as if it has been melted or something and beat up. I'm new to this page and am not a collector so any input would be great.

Just damaged. A wrecked car is not a factory error. A damaged coin is not a mint error. The damage happened in circulation. It wasn't struck like that.

Certainly possible, but those are thieves stealing from the naïve.

I agree with all of the above. Your cent spent a good deal of up close and quality time with parking lot gravel. Post mint damage ( PMD), not a mint error, no way no how.

They hardly sell. The posted price does not mean that it will sell. I think of it as "scammers".

People sell this junk because they realize there is a market to sell to the uneducated and the uneducated will will buy it thinking it's a national treasure. SMH

So they will realize they were took. I wouldn't want to the seller when this happens.
