What would cause the slope on the west side of this mintmark?

Does being a minor split-serif rpm have anything to do with it?
I have several of these so it is not an isolated incident [i.e. damage].

Well this one is a minor RPM. They are hard to match up. I keep hoping that John Wexler can get all his files on line. So I save all the minor ones into tubes to match up with the ones I can't find a match for.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not really asking about the RPM [it is far too minor]. I am interested in understanding the reason this MMS-6 mint mark has a long slope on the west side [black arrows].

The mintmark was added to the die by hand back in this era, and so things weren't perfectly done to strict standards.

Might be a type of MD that causes that sloped look?
