They don't reply here so we will never know.

Your green line should be up the center of the I.
Twelve years ago when I first shared the marker I discovered of I to denticle and I between denticle for these quarters I' m sure I did not say left or right side of the I.

Hi all, I am practicing my grading / find varieties. I am looking my Charlton guide 2015, and I thought this coin was obv.2 by looking at the right ribbon. Neither OBV 1 or OBV 2 mention anything about the "I".

If you guys can explain why Obv. 1, I will greatly appreciate it.

thanks

Do not look at the ribbon ends.
That is an unreliable marker.
The ribbon ends were once thought to be reliable and the result was that many coins have been misattributed by ICCS.
Look to the I in GRATIA, if it points between denticles it's OBV1, if it points to a denticle it's OBV2.
There are other minor markers, not mentioned in Charlton's due to copyright issues, which take some experience to discern so rely on the I, it doesn't vary.

with DBM. Use the 'I' of GRATIA and its position with respect to the denticles. I had an OBV 2 in this date several years ago in ICCS G-6. I sold it to Le30Sou coin store in Gatineau when I stopped doing shows and they were looking for inventory prior to their opening.
