Hi All,

My local back had some rolls of pennies this week and I couldn't resist picking them up. After some searching I found that 1979 has quite the assortment of errors, but I couldn't find mention of this one.

Is this a doubling or possible tripling of the queen?

Machine Doubling, it is common for for that year.

You can see the displaced metal from when the die nudged into the design on its way back up from the strike. (Kind of like how snow curls into a shovel when pushed).

Also even if it was Doubling, it would not be an error, it would be a variety.

Agree, often-seen Machine Doubling.
