Here's a TOUGH case to grade! The dies were worn and spaced too far apart IMO. HINT: There's no wear on this coin. I know the cheek looks rubbed, the wheatlines appear worn and this coins had a hard life, but in hand it looks a LOT better than the pictures. I can detect no circulation wear in hand.

This is a case where have to decide if strike and die state bring the grade down along with the hits:

Very hard. EF 45 at most, lots of going on with this coin.

From what I can see it looks EF-40.

Wow! That's a pretty big hint!

Although the gouges on Abe's head might render it a no grade, I would grade it AU55 based on the pics alone (w/o hints).

Why don't you weigh it and post it's actual weight in grams to the nearest 0.01g? I've got a feeling this planchet might have been a couple grains short of nominal.
