Going though my spares and I dunno why this was in there! LOL There's at most 2-3 hits on the coin, just a couple of carbon spots. The luster is BLINDING, pics do it no justice. I added it to my main collection:

IMO, the spots and hits would keep it from a MS65RD grade. 64RD. Nice!

MS64 RD, very nice. That hair on the bottom reverse, or a scratch?

Very tough crowd! That's a hair on the coin Chris. There's like three light hits on the whole coin and those are on the reverse. I don't see a single hit to the obverse even with 8x mag. Other than a couple small carbon spots, this is one of the most flawless Lincoln's I have EVER held....and I've held a few.

PCGS is ruthless with Lincolns. You saw the one I had they only gave a 65, Brad? Based on that and Heritage results, my guess is this '36 might slide into a 66 holder.

They definately can be, but I've also seen them be pretty forgiving. It might be grading by pictures, but I've disagreed with many of their grades....but photograding is very difficult in reality.

Real nice, BT. Feel free to send me the next "spare" you run across. :)

I've got a boatload of PCGS MS66RD Lincolns from this 2nd era (1934-1958) and this coin is nicer than many of them. No question in my mind that PCGS would have graded this coin MS66RD 5 or 10 years ago.
Today, even with only a few minor hits on the reverse and a couple small carbon spots, it would likely go MS65RD.

I gave this coin an MS-66 RD.
