Hi All. I know I get sucked in hoping to find an error but it turns out to be PMD. However, it drives me crazy until I know for sure so I am posting despite the humiliation of being taken in.

So here it goes. I know this quarter is a mess. The most significant error I see is the absence of detail on the shoulder of the girl on reverse. Not sure how this destruction occurs.

Still beating my head against the wall.

Thanks again for all your help and patience.

Ground down with a belt sander would be my guess.

Certainly not an error. Belt sander seems likely, but exactly how is anyone's guess. There are an infinite number of ways a coin can be damaged after leaving the mint, but only a finite number of ways a mint error can occur. Much more efficient to learn what the errors actually look like so you know what to search for than to learn all the different things that aren't errors, which is impossible.

It wasn't struck looking like that. It is now, a damaged coin.

with all of the above. Not a mint error, just post mint damage ( PMD).
