TB's post was crucial to finding this one: http://goccf.com/t/345969

This one is LDS so difficult to spot and photograph. Earlier die states would show strong repunching to the west on the upper curve and the lower serif, but on this die state the repunching to the lower serif is only barely visible. Die scratches in the 9 and die gouge above the L are match.

Fairly rare, early-date, mint state variety. Overall a neat add to the collection. Also the old ANACS slab is a first for me (Gen 2 slab, 1990-1991).

That is the right die number. Did you note that it is a West, not an east?

So what your are seeing on the mintmark on the west side is the RPM.

Yep, I was thinking west but typed east. I do that way too often.

I corrected the typo in the original post.

We all that sometimes. You had me wondering of that one. I looked it up and figured it out. So sweat it. All here need to look when we wonder what is going on? Then figure out what is really going one. The 1911-D cent was a revelation to me today. Attached information on another issue with this coin and looked to see if I could prove it with images. And now I know what it is and what causes this. I also have a coin that haunted me in the past. Now I know what it is.

Another case of the missing 'L' figured out.

Nice. First unlabeled variety I've seen on an ANACS holder!

Super nice coin Tanman! I have seen one or two of these slabbed in higher grades over the past year or so, and while it appears to be overall quite rare, is actually a tad more common among the surviving coins in higher grades. Downside is that one was for sale correctly labeled, I think it was raw but RD and MS, and did not sell on ebay for many months at what I thought was a reasonable price. This is one of those we variety specialists really appreciate, but gets little love from the average variety collector.

I am totally lost why Coop posted a ton of 1910-S images in this thread.

Read my post again. It was an answer to a question that I figured out today. I've had this coin for over ten years, and finally figured it out on a different thread, and it applied to my coin. Just recapping a new thought. I'll delete the post.

Beautiful coin Tanman. I'm just hoping one day I can find something like this to acquire. Kudos to the plug for TB for helping you on this one. I love it when we help each other out.
