I'd grade this PO-02 based on the reverse. A very common date in circulated condition, I'm afraid.

This is a classic AG3 coin.

Typical for a 19th century Barber half. Looks to be scrubbed, but overall presentable.

My dad had it next to a bunch of really old coins that were counterfeit but this one and a couple Peace dollars were real but non in great condition except the counterfeit ones they were magnetic

As I understand it, when coins began being single-graded the obverse now carries more weight than the reverse.
For that reason I would grade it AG-03.

I've been a Barber collector of many years. Few other designs look as good with dates ranging from fine to extra fine in a series. They were that well designed with years of circulation in mind.

I wouldn't argue with AG-03, but if this were a valuable date, I sure wouldn't want to pay AG-03 money for it.
