Makes me wonder what the New England threepence would go for if it's real. To me it seems more valuable - first coin of the Colonies/US, the only one and the only one of that design anybody could obtain. Somebody could have the only complete set of New England to go with their oak trees, willows, etc. To me the 1933 is just another DE except for the date and a sordid history.

Quote: Hardly a rare Coin , US government has 13 more at least ! Maybe that's true , but only One single individual by law is allowed to own one . I would think that is pretty rare for all the Double Eagle collectors in the world .

All it takes is one stroke of the pen to make this specific example no longer unique.

Quote: An Executive Order ? Not necessarily, but legislation typically needs a signature. I do not see anything veto proof getting passed any time soon. Quote: Hey , if the inverted Jennies took in over 8 million $ what would my inverted Morgan fetch ?

Not what I'd spend my $19M on. A numismatist president will inevitably get in someday and set the others free. Congrats to the buyer though.

I should not have dropped out at $18.8 million. Big mistake.
