1886 O Die Chip? (On The Obverse) - Coin Community Forum

I'm not sure what's the proper terminology for this, so I was guessing its a Die Chip. Or if its nothing at all. Does anyone have an idea? Report this Post to the Staff

It may be a area with some verdigris that came off and is now revealing the lighter undertones from before the coin circulated, or is it actually raised? I just can't tell from the photos. IF so it may be a drop of glue or similar, which would be removed with acetone, and not damage the coin nor change the color, unless there is stuff on the surface the acetone would also remove, it dissolves organic materials, like glue residues and PVC deposits. See if you can get some closer photos, steady the camera on a box or jar so it's not moving, especially if its a phone camera. get more direct light onto the areas also if you can.
