Alright Aussies! Do any of you have any idea what the 2005 Mob of Roos is currently selling for down there and does anybody have a clue how many were actually made. Has the mint tried to explain how they were accidentally made or, should I say, intentionally made? Whats the story as I am trying my darndest to get my paws on a couple of them.

I would not have a clue as to what they are selling for, how many there are etc Terry. Was only recently that this coin came to the notice of collectors.I am chasing one myself....[:p] I noticed your bids and on principle, will not bid against a fellow knight and a Forum buddy.

Lim feel free to bid, especially if they go over my maximum! Its fair game then, isn't it? Just trying to pick a couple up for my wife and I as I feel these are going to go through the roof very quickly. Good luck fellow Knight!
rggoodie, The Aussie collectors just recently discovered some 2005 Mob of Roos in circulation, which normally isn't a big deal, but the 2005 dollar coin was a commemorative and NO mob of roos were to be made? At least that is my understanding at this time. I think the sky will be the limit on these in a few more months so I(we) are trying to get in while the getting is good.

Before you sell the house to buy one of these, there is a figure of 5 million to go into circulation, given from a reliable source.

Quote: 2. Best offer over $1,000.00 will get it, otherwise I will keep it and wait and see what happens in October. If the first two dealers are correct, someone will make at least a five-fold profit.
Unquote: What a load of "carp" in the seller's listing...wonder why he did not pull the auction and then keep the coin for himself... Have a read

I emailed this guy and told him unless he had a reserve, which he didn't, the coin MUST sell at auction. I backed off the auction as I could see nothing but problems coming out of this guy! Guess we have one in every country?

My question, at this time Toast, is if the Mint is sitting on 5 million why would they hesitate to tell the world what is going on with these coins? That sounds like a fabricated story out of someone really interested in buying them up before the real story does come out? And, if 2005 was a commemorative dollar year why did they switch back to the Mob of Roos? Just curious my friend!

I was just scrolling through the next 24 hours on ebay, as I do . I came across another two of these roos from the same seller and they both just ended for a touch over the $100 mark....each!!! You'd feel stupid if these do flood the market or maybe thse winning bidders just got a bargain......not.

It was the first dollar that sold for $58 that in the listing he says that only offers over $1000 will win. But as I see it the winning bidder now has a binding deal to have the coin for $58. The other 2 listing were from a different seller with no mention of a reserve. He got the higher price...ha ha

The winner of the first auction is quite a well known buyer of errors & varieties coins. He was not pushed in that particular auction, IMO it would have gone higher over the $100 mark if he was pushed....[:p]

OK, now I'm lost. It was meant for circulation so why high prices and why isn't it in circulation? Terry, weren't you collecting the proof version of these?
