Just found this in my grandfathers coins from years ago. Never seen where a couple letters are pushed in and not out. It's the same thickness as others just seemed off I don't think I've ever seen one like it. Maybe someone knows more about it than me. And the coin is oblonged not squished? It's like it's wider but same height but thickness is the same. 🤷 #8205;#9794;#65039;

Damage of uncertain origin. Coin did not leave the Philadelphia Mint looking like this.

Just the fact that it is out of round tells you that it is damage of some sort and not an error.

I should have figured the out of round but when I layed another Wheat penny over the reg shaped coin was perfectly matching the odd coins edge all the way around it. The damaged coin just had odd form like it looks waved but if viewed from the side the edge all the way around is same thickness so I thought I'd ask. Just inherited handfuls of random old coins and wanted to learn some.

Going to say fire damage again. The right half of the coin got hotter than the left side.
