First, I do apologize for the pics as did not want to remove this 1965 SMS Washington quarter from the cellophane holder that the coins came in. My question is about the reverse of this quarter. I know the the 65 quarter had the RDV-004 and RDV-005 reverses. The biggest difference I see between the RDV-003 and the RDV-004 is the leaf above the letter A in DOLLAR. The RDB-003 the leaf almost touches the upper left side of the A, in the RDV-004 it is well above the A. On this SMS quarter is my question, could this coin have been accidentally struck with the RDV-003? If I go by the leaf and it's proximity to the letter A then it is a mule. Pics 4,6 and 8 are from Variety Vista and are of the RDV-003. The very last pic is from the RDV-004. Somebody with a little more knowledge then me will most definitely be helpful.

I'm not 100% sure but IMHO I think what you are seeing is the effects of polishing on the die making it appear there is more space between the letter A and the leaf.

I looked at the V.V reverse designs and can't make heads or tails on the 1965-1967 era? I need to study these a lot more. a-c makes sense. But after that, I'm not seeing the differences.
