It is a medallion made by Ystad-Metall (that is what the inscription on the back says), a company in Ystad that manufactured metal utilities and decorations. It operated under that name 1942-69, so the medallion should be from that period.

Ystad is a coastal city in the very south of Sweden. The city coat of arms has a lion like the one on the medaillon. The text "Landet födde männen - Havet skapade staden" is a local saying and translates to "The land made the men - The sea created the city."

I have no idea how many were made. I looks like a typical 50s-60s souvenir piece, something you would have found in local shops in Ystad and bring home to remember your visit.
