1979 Quarter with Cuds cracks ?
Is that Cuds, cracks or whatever on top of the 'U" and bottom of "Q" ?

Not a Cud.
The top of the U is damage. Looks like a small die chip on the bottom of the Q

Keep in mind that quarters are used in vending machines a lot. This makes the devices on the outside edge of the coin show more wear. Thus the flattening on the devices and some look like they may have sheared off some metal. Just spendable change.
