Okay so I just want to say that I am NOT GOOD with these struck throughs. So if I am obviously wrong, I apologize.

This just caught my attention because if it was a cut, I'd expect to see signs of the zinc core. The indent itself is also quite smooth.

Is this a struck through wire/thread/string?

(Again I apologize if I am blatantly wrong, I have very little practice with these).

Almost looks like glue or oil/clear grease on the 'E'. Try a toothpick on this one and post an after image.

Are you certain it's not some sort of clear lacquer? It looks as if the sides all connect, but you'd know having it in hand, I'm just pointing out how it looks. But you might have a string strike through. Interesting SC.

Well, that just answered my question.

I used a pen tip (not the actual tip, but the plastic casing, as putting ink on the coin isn't exactly the best idea), as I did not have a toothpick.

I guess it must've been a little thread that was attached to the coin with some substance.

Thank you Coop, I'll have to remember to do this again if I run across a similar coin.

EDIT: Merclover, you nailed it. That's exactly what it was. Nice job

This is real rare to see this. I can think of only 5 times I've seen it. After the first time, when it was figured out, it stays with me.

It is not often that we see this. But it is still not a premium for the coin.

I see now with the photos what you meant. Interesting, I'm glad to have presented this coin.
