1883 Liberty Nickel Without Cents - Coin Community Forum

merty New Member United States 36 Posts	Posted 01/06/2009 6:18 pm Well, I do have an 1883 Liberty nickel and since I am new to this forum I am sure some of you could tell me the value or invalue of this particular nickel. As for the 1913, there is no need to take it anywhere for authentication. All 5 minted are known. But if you still believe it to be real you can send it to a TPG (third party gradind company). As stated, all 5 1913's have been accounted for but, there are certain diagnostics in the date, most specifically, the 3, that will tell you it's authenticity. Here is a link to an online guide with retail values for various grades of Liberty nickels. (It is interesting to note that the 'With Cents' variety is more valuable, even though a lot more of them were made.
