Last year I picked up this $1 Educational Series silver certificate with a note about a "minor repair". I have searched this note over with a magnifying glass and have yet to definitively find the minor repair. While I'm an old coin collector, I'm fairly new to currency collecting and grading - what may "minor repair" actually entail? Thanks!

Have you tried putting a UV lamp to it yet? That will often show the repair if it is fibrous based, patching, cellulose repaired, etc.
I'm no paper money expert but for a long time I was involved in stamps and the same thing applied, except you paper money folks don't have to worry about perforations or adhesive backing. Otherwise the paper is similar like, watermarks, overprints, repairs, when if comes to authentication.

Quote: Have you tried putting a UV lamp to it yet? No, I didn't think of that. I collected stamps in my younger years, so should have known that! Thanks very much for the suggestion - I'll give that a try.

The most likely reason for the minor repair comment comes from the back side of the note. There appears to be a repaired Top margin tear along the vertical centerfold.

Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate it. I'll look closer at that centerfold at the top on the reverse.
