Hey Tort, from all of us here...

What you have there is a Great Britain 2012 7-sided fifty pence and probably does not carry much value.

@tort, I've moved your thread over to the UK subforum so that we can get some additional eyes on it. This isn't my area of expertise, but you are talking about the big "50" defacing the Queen's face, right?

Looks like a normal 50 p 2012 (mintage 32,300,000), see: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5629.html

EXCEPT for the large 50 on the head of the queen. This has been added later. I cannot see from your photo whether this "50" has been stamped (incuse) or has been soldered or glued on the coin.

For an official issue by The Royal Mint the head of the Queen would never have been defaced.

Going by the lighting, it looks like the "50" is raised in which case it would have been added later.
Probably glued on. This would be considered damage and adds no value to a collector.

thank you for all your replies...

i did find it very strange having the '50' on the Queens face, and if it was added later on, that would explain why I can not find anything on the internet regarding it.

the '50' is in fact a bit raised, suggesting then by your comments that it was added on to the coin.

thank you very much everyone :)

Probably created for someone's 50th birthday or anniversary and subsequently put into circulation. The person adding the 50 was clearly not a numismatist as they failed to notice that the current 50p coins are point down.
