Looks totally normal. Note the distortion on the devices on a doubled die:

Note the shape on the centers of every 'B' and 'R'? That shows the distortion.

Some slight Machine Doubling, otherwise fairly normal looking cent.

On the single squeeze process, they tend to look distorted. On the over style dies they looked like the way you are thinking. So about the time the bar cents on the memorial cents were happening, the single squeeze dies were taking over. Thus the die variety locations changed from the out edges of the devices to the central areas of the devices.
