Yup...there are a number of die breaks, including Cuds, that came apart in layers, so to speak. This is a nice example, and nice photography too.

Okay Charles, I'll bite. Since I see nothing that touches the rim, what is the exception here that allows this to be called Cuds ?

I don't think CC is calling this a Cud because it is not. He is just stating that Cuds can have the same "layered" effect as they increase in size before the die fails.
