Odd location for a DDO, normally they are more towards the western part of the earlobe. Might be a plating issue, have you tried depressing it with a wooden toothpick?
Here are pics of the obverse/reverse. Using a toothpick didn't alter the 'earring-like' area. The ear looks different from the dozen other 2021-p pennies I've compared it with thus far...thanks for the input.
The area looks too small of be a doubled die. It would need to be the same size and shape of the lobe rising above the fields and devices. Have you pushed on it with a toothpick? It maybe a gas bubble? But if you have more than one of these, that are the exact same, it might be a die issue, but not a doubled ear.
