What's up everyone? I'm new to the forum, so hopefully I'll get to meet some interesting people also collecting.

I was checking a 1961 P & D uncirculated set and found this coin. PCGS only shows one version of a D/D RPM, and NGC shows nothing. It definitely looks like there is a D/D re-stamp, but the lettering around the rim shows what looks like doubling. I am attaching photos for expert review, lol. The eagle and motto do not show signs of doubling, but just about every letter in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and QUARTER DOLLAR show doubling. Sorry if the pics are a little grainy, the coins are still in the plastic wrapper.

Any thoughts? Much appreciated!

Appears to be machine doubling--flat and shelf-like. Others will be along to weigh-in. Welcome!

Thanks IJN! I have a hard time telling the difference sometimes. The reason being is because sometimes it looks like the picture in NGC or PCGS. I found this one a couple weeks ago in a mint pack, still in the plastic. It is a 1963 Washington quarter. PCGS shows a 1963 DDO, and this one looks so similar. I'm not sure if it is also Mechanical Doubling?

The first pic is my coin in the plastic wrapper. The second is the PCGS pic for the 1963 DDO 25c.

I agree, appears to be a classic case of Machine Doubling.

I think your 1963 is the fs-101. If so great find!

Ls3000GT to the CCF!

*Please one coin per thread

*Recommend posting 1 full picture of the obverse and reverse with the close up

first coin: Machine Doubling on STATES OF, QUARTER DOLLAR... need a better picture of the mint mark.

second coin: looks like either FS-101 or FS-102... hard to tell with that picture.

***BUT DONT TAKE IT OUT OF THE PACKAGING JUST FOR A PICTURE.

side note: good idea to use PCGS or NGC as a comparison... but it is best to use source documents. and they are:
VARIETY VISTA http://varietyvista.com/
WEXLER DOUBLEDDIE https://doubleddie.com/
COPPERCOINS http://www.coppercoins.com/

congratulations
