1859 Brass , Wishful Thinking Or ?

Anybody know what Haxby pairs have been found with the brass 1859`s ?
I`ve never seen one myself .

Yes, SPP, Ty, stokrooky and I did the March 2012 article/research in the CN journal on the brass '59's. Since only the brass planchets were involved, and not a specific die or timeframe, the only way to tell is an XRF. The "brass"(and I use the term rather loosely) was due to an improper alloy mix in the crucibles/vats when the molten was poured into the small ingots. The small ingots were then rolled into flat sheets where the planchets were struck out. Because some portions of the sheets were then made up of a, now, incorrect alloy mixture, some of the planchets contained much more zinc than tin, hence more like brass. For the study, we used 90% copper and more zinc than tin)as what we were looking for and found none in the 600 59's of mine that were XRF'd. About 40 or so of those we XRF'd were slightly "yellowish" due to different cleaning agents that had been used on them during their lives.

BTW, I emailed the ebay seller and told him it wasn't brass and he removed it from auction and sent me a nice note (a note nicer than the one I sent him). I replied this AM to his email and gave him a condenced version of the study and what cleaners do to bronze to turn it "yellowish". I thanked him for removing it.
