Hello, I came across this 2000 D Massachusetts quarter. It looks like it could be an error coin, and also had much more copper when I turned it as you can see on the picture, I'm not sure if this is normal? but I'm trying to learn as much as possible about collecting coins and the things to look for. I'm really excited to get started on my new adventure.. if anyone has any advice or knowledge to pass along to me I would really appreciate it.. thanks for your time and your help..

@tnu, first welcome to CCF. Second, sometimes coins are struck on thin planchets or through grease and the details are not fully struck. However, in the case of your coin, this looks more like mechanical damage to me. The completely worn edge reeding is the diagnostic.
