These are the types of so called die chips minor rim dings and so call errors that some dealers have a box or binder pages for a buck or two that rarely sells, if you purchase this type of coin 50 years from now you would be lucky to get your money back. I already mentioned the types of errors collectors are looking for

Ya, I know the errors the bring a good premium that have been mentioned. I didn't think this was really worth anything, more another educational piece for me. I still don't have the gear to get a good shot of any kind of minor doubling and iv been looking for rotated coins and broad strikes etc. Still a cool find for me lol. I could have wrote it off as a die chip, and I know some rim Cuds if big enough or big minor error coins can be more collectable. but as a learner I continue to post any "weird" things I see on a coin and learn. And researche while posting about things.

With what appears to be coin counting or Rolling Machine Damage.....it is a hard sell on "rimfin" IMO.

Do you see the damage? Between II and D did it catch the rim as well causing the feathering?

The damage is not lined up at all with the error iv seen these marked thousands of times they are perfect circles. Thale damage is completely bseperate from the error. Definitely not caused by that. As far as I can tell and have researched, it is what everyone else said, a Rim Fin that was thin and bent in circulation or more likely at the mint being dumped into a big bin. The circle marks on top of the coin are from a coin rolling machine or vending machine, etc.

There are roller marks clearly on this coin and the most plausible explanation is this is what caused the damage in the end it"s a 5 cent coin, find a 180 degree rotation depending on grade worth at least a thousand bucks

@john100, that would be a cool find but I'm afraid in coin roll hunting you get what you get. I'm still learning and I insoect every coin for all sorts off errors, if anything big enough jumps out I put it aside to look at later. If I found something like a 90 degree ot 180, or a major enough DD that's what I would be posting lol. So even if it's worth face it's a fun find for me.
