That's the TrueView photo, and PCGS did grade it an MS67FS. Maybe just a bad photo?

I endlessly mock both PCGS and NGC when it comes to FS nickels. What they call FS is actually 5 Steps, and what they call 5 Steps is 4-4.5 at best.

FS can look like that when the photo is too small or too low res, like this one.

to the CCF! I went to the PCGS page and pulled up this coin. In a detailed shot this coin has much stronger steps than in the original image above. While I still question the FS designation, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. In hand, the coin may show even more detail. Below is a more detailed image of the same coin. Yes, I have seen MANY coins listed on PCGS as Full Step that seem to be over graded, but this is something that's really difficult to show in a 'JPG' image on a web page.  *Sorry, I missed a digit on the image. It should read 16024445. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

 the photo shown does not show Full Steps . I believe to attribute FS the photographer needs to take very close up and large pics of just the steps along with full photos of both sides of said coin . |
