I found this dime recently with an odd mark on the obverse. Perhaps someone could shed some light on what it is. It looks, to me, like it could be one of the dots from the reverse. Either one of those near the rim or the ones in between EPU. Could that be what it actually is or is there another explanation?

Could this...

If raised, die gouge? If indent, PMD.

Assuming it's raised, die gouge or chip.

It is like a pot hole on the fields on the die. When a void opens up on the die, the coins will be filling that void with a raised area on the void on the die. Show a raised area on the coins. They are called "die dots."

It's in the wrong spot of the reverse "dot". Looks like a die chip to me.
