1 is a Jefferson nickel, date unknown. I took photos in a few different hues. It is Denver minted. The other is a 1998 quarter with some kind of pattern on it as seen in the photo. I have looked and researched for days now and cannot come up with anything on the quarter. Thank you for any help with these 2.
A damaged coin is only worth face value. Just not a keeper. Someone tried to make it look like a mint error, but when they failed, they spent it. What to look for on a damaged coin. 1. If the coin is bent. 2. 99% of the time a coin with incuse marks on the surface of the coin is coin damage. 3. Outside edge of the coin is not rounded normally. It was altered.
These are classified as garbage disposal and parking lot coins. In other words, coins with extreme damage.

Thanks for the info on these coins! The quarter I figured was some kind of Post Damage, however the nickel is not bent and looking at it and trying to brain storm how the coins features could have been twisted and mauled like that. I have a lot of coins in my collection with known errors, incorrect planchets, double strikes, Cuds and so on. But this darn nickel is eating me up. Again, thanks for welcome and I will post some of my collection soon.
