What wieght does ink transfer have in the final grade, if any? If a note has a very minor offset printing error, will this effect the final grade if it is not being graded as an error note? If it is being graded as an error, what weight is given to registration? I ask this assuming the notes are uncirculated.

I actually was just trying to educate myself. But for reference I found this. Will the transfered ink on this bill effect a final grade?

If you're referencing the minor smudging, it's fairly typical on modern $1 notes. They pickup a little ink from the Washington portrait after being bundled together. It sometimes even looks like a partial fingerprint.

Agree. Won't affect the grade.

At some point, will the severity of the tranfer affect the grade? And when it does, would this be where the note is considered an error?

It's kinda like asking when does a common turned digit go beyond BEP tolerances and become an error. The collecting community rates them as Minor, Moderate and Major. Once again, the severity of the error coupled with the condition of the note dictates the value. Experience helps distinguish the differences.

I kinda knew the answer was going to be that. I mostly just wanted to know if the transfer ever affected the grade.
