Man, if you ask me, that coin is ugly.

Quote: that coin is ugly I must agree. Hard to tell from all the splotchy toning, but it looks to be a fairly weak strike for a San Fran example. Did the '93S examples follow suite with their counterparts from other years regarding strike quality?

It is not attractive at all. Buyer is paying for the pedigreed holder, not eye appeal.

Totally agree that the splotchy toning is not to my liking.
What is interesting is the incredible price already building for the coin - I don't have the data but it's likely to be the most expensive Morgan ever sold.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

Yep, that coin is ripe for a professional conservation. Can you imagine being the person given the task to conserve this coin if it ever did get submitted for that....

We say to buy the coin and not the label, yet this is about to blow all that wisdom up... Best of luck to the winner.
I'll happily go back to my $50 coins that aren't ugly, so I suppose my opinion is mute for the buying crowd.

It's actually much, much nicer than the GC photos make it out to be. The coin is nearly proof-like and has beautiful russet toning. GC sucks.

Not a fan of that toning either. Is this coin too valuable to risk conservation?

From the PCGS photos . A fantastic example in my opinion . In this market this piece will bring beyond silly money !

I volunteer for that conservation job . I'll use a brand new very fine eye makeup brush just barely dipped in E-Z-est and carefully slide it across obverse then dip in distilled water , dry and repeat procedure for reverse .

Using a PCGS True View picture for comparison is like photoshopping a mugshot.
GC has just knocked it out of the ballpark for me this past year, time after time.
