Just Machine Doubling. Not a doubled die. Nothing is showing spread, just the removal of the contour on the affected devices. Note the last image. The contour removed is what you are seeing. Machine Doubling affects the edges of devices.

@jsan, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @coop that your quarter has Machine Doubling rather than being a doubled die. With that said, yours is a particularly nice example.

Also the doubled die on this year are not on that area of the coin. They are on the earlobes and Motto areas:

The will show as a raised area above the fields or devices. Not flat and shelf like.

Note the devices are distorted, not reduced in size.
