Hey this kind of looks like a much more circulated Rim Fin unlike the one I found more recently, hopefully you guys can confirm, there is a few errors that kind of look like this that iv seen.   I'm guessing Rim Fin but this is the first thing iv seen in a silver coin I have and there is no listed variety or anything in the error list for this year. |

It's just a regular silver dime with maybe a ding. If you keep examining coins carefully and studying the subject matter, maybe one day you will find something that is as described in a book. Any minute anomaly that "might" resemble something that you've read about, doesn't make it an error. You have to think through the minting process to envision how what you see could happen. You must spend hours and hours looking through pocket change. This has to be at least 15-20 of these "look what I think I found" moments. Just keep looking. It will happen.

Why is there 2 rims in the shots I posted? That's not on the other silver dimes iv seen, the " Cud could be a ding but there is no damage on the edge that would have displaced the metal, also it looks like a Rim Fin. |

Or is the double rim just a sign of a slightly off center strike? The Rim Fin pictures and some off center strikes look very similar to me, but my main focus was the second rim at the top left of the top left rim, I was less focused on the minor " Cud" or damage. |

Well someone let me know if the doubling on the rim is just a slightly off center strike causing the second partial rim or if it's something else. I just wanted confirmation on the double rim. Iv been researching, also I do spend about 2hours a day looking through circulation coins. And researching errors,

No one has said what caused this? Also what makes it different from a Rim Fin? |

There is about 10 different things that can cause the rim to look like this I just don't know how to differentiate between alot of them and weather or not any of the "errors" in the article I posted are actually errors worth keeping. Like I know broad struck is worth keeping and retained collar"I know this isn't that, but what's the dif between a Rim Fin and a tilted die strike, etc. |

Slightly misaligned obverse die by the looks of it, I'm not big on rim errors and mainly focus on doubled dies and the odd error once in a while.
But what I do know is I can grab a handful of change from 1960-1980 and find this on atleast half of them as thats how common it is.

@johnWayne007, thanks for the info I thought if it wasn't Rim Fin it had to be that, I don't find much silver so this is the only one out of my 6 silvers that had it. |

Also a thanks to okiecoiner,was never debating your words on the subject, but wanted to understand what I was seeing. The info online for these errors is really hard to differentiate between one thing to another. So saying normal coin dosnt tell me what's different about it compared to what I have and am able to look at, I see a difference, obviously in this case dosnt make anything special about this. But now I know exactly what is is and have it to compare with other errors like this I find

I decided to give this coin and my silver fish dime as a tip to the pizza deliver guy. So I no longer have this coin. 5 silver dimes I still have but nothing special.
