Hello all. I recently picked up an Edwardian penny to fill the Edward II hole in my collection. As far as I can tell it's a 10cf3b, so according to UKDFD it was minted right in that nebulous period of 1307-1309. So while I can't be for sure it's an Edward II, it'll be a good filler until I can get a better example.

What I was curious about though is the fact that there are two As in ANGL, so the legend reads "EDWA R AANGL DNS HYB". Is this a known error? I could only find one mention of it on a UK metal detecting site, but not much else. Could it be a sterling imitation? Attached below should be a photo.

Thank you!

Here are two links to websites that might help you with the correct identification of the coin:

Complete inscription guide for all English pennies:
http://www.psdetecting.com/Inscriptions.html

Detailed descriptions of the different classes of Edwardian Pennies:
https://www.ukdfd.co.uk/pages/edwar...ies%20P1.htm

There are pennies for both Edward I and Edward II with following inscription: EDWA ANGL DNS HYB, hence the double A.
Let me know what you find....
