can someone explain the difference between the original and modified heads on the 1925 1/2 penny's?

I tried to look it up but I could not tell the difference in the pictures and there wasn't any explanation.

Not much difference.
The modified version has slightly longer denticles.
The other difference is in the initials on the neck.
I believe the difference is that the original has periods after the
letters while the modified version has non.
( I could be wrong on this but the difference is in the initials.)

Yes - the Modified effigy appears on many of the GB coins in 1925 or 1926. If you can see the initials on the truncation, that is the easiest way to tell the difference:
On the unmodified effigy the initials appear as "B.M." and appear toward the centre of the truncation.
On the modified effigy they appear as "BM" and are at the right hand end of the truncation.
There are ways of telling them apart if the initials are not legible, but generally, if you can't see the initials, the condition is probably not good enough to be worth the effort. The exception is the 1926 penny, which in Modified Effigy is noticeably scarcer. See https://headsntails14.wordpress.com...-v-obverses/ for a full description of all the varieties of the penny.
