Yes - the Modified effigy appears on many of the GB coins in 1925 or 1926. If you can see the initials on the truncation, that is the easiest way to tell the difference:
On the unmodified effigy the initials appear as "B.M." and appear toward the centre of the truncation.
On the modified effigy they appear as "BM" and are at the right hand end of the truncation.
There are ways of telling them apart if the initials are not legible, but generally, if you can't see the initials, the condition is probably not good enough to be worth the effort.
