I looked in several places and cannot find any thing about a 1756 copper farthing or 1/2 penny.
weight 9gm
diameter 29mm
book says it is a 1/2 penny! Experts? Help, please
yes it is worn, G/VG at best!

It's an 1856 King George II halfpenny that is probably worth between $10 and $15, maybe more in this condition. Seems to be a date that is found less often than others of this type. I think there are "Regal" and "Non-Regal" and "Evasion" halfpennies for this year. Non-Regal are generally underweight. Evasion have PAX instead of REX. (I could be wrong about all of this)
Your George II is nicer than mine that is dated 1735.
I think you have an attractive piece of history here and a very nice coin.

Here's an interesting page loaded with history and information.

Except that, as you have discovered, no halfpennies were made for 1756!
The answer is simple - the OP coin is 1736. It is quite common to get this mix-up - the Georgian 3 and 5 are very similar.

Definitely 1736 it is the early George II profile. As paddy says none were minted in 1756

I guess that explains the extra thick top of the "3". I was wondering about that.

I am so embarrassed, I should have caught that.
